Wet Hot American Summer

Wet as in my tears! I'm feeling OK now, but the first week without my Livvy Love at home was rough. I felt super sad, on the verge of tears at all times. The tears did flow, at the grocery store of all places! (I miss shopping for her favorite snacks!) Alas, I will soon be bringing all her favorite treats to her on Visiting Day.
Things that have helped me cope with having my firstborn off at sleepaway camp?
- Having low-key plans the night she left. It was good to get out of the house and not be moping around.
- But also: allow for downtime. Early nights cozy in bed, watching a movie. Bring on the funny films! Bring on the comfort.
- Hitting up that group chat! Being in touch with friends going through the same thing has helped big time. As well, I've loved connecting with moms who also have kids at Liv's camp, many of them fellow alums. It's been such a fulfilling aspect of this whole experience.
- Practicing patience. Liv's camp doesn't post a ton of photos or updates. Those first few pics made me giddy! I had to trust that the good news was coming. She's having the time of her life - and that's what it's all about. Letting my girl soar, despite my attachment issues :)
Hope this helps any other camp mamas out there. I'll be referencing back when I need the reminders! Especially when I'm about to go to the market.
